Integral Humanism

Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Cell

Introduction

The Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Cell (BJMC) functions under the guiding philosophy of Integral Humanism (Ekatma Manav Darshan), propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

This philosophy provides the ideological foundation for all socio-economic and political activities of the organisation, including its approach toward labour welfare, workers’ rights, and national development.

Meaning of Integral Humanism

Integral Humanism envisions the holistic development of human beings by integrating the body, mind, intellect, and soul with the larger welfare of society and the nation.

It rejects both Western capitalist individualism and Marxist materialism, emphasizing a harmonious balance between material progress and moral-spiritual values.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s philosophy rests on four key principles:
  1. Wholeness (Ekatmata) – Society is an organic whole; individuals, families, and communities are interdependent.
  2. Self-reliance (Swavalamban) – Every nation must rely on its own culture, resources, and values for progress.
  3. Decentralisation (Gram Swaraj) – Real power should flow to the grassroots; villages and workers must become self-sufficient units.
  4. Dharma-based conduct (Dharmik Jeevan) – Social, economic, and political actions must align with ethical and moral duties.

Application in Labour Philosophy

The Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Cell applies Integral Humanism to the field of labour and employment as follows:

  1. Worker as a Human, not a Machine
  • Labour is not merely an economic unit but a living contributor to national prosperity.
  • Each worker deserves dignity, fair opportunity, and respect, not just wages.

  1. Harmony between Labour and Capital
  • Rather than class struggle, BJMC believes in class coordination (Samajik Samrasta).
  • Employers and workers are partners in production, both responsible for national growth.

  1. Self-reliant and Ethical Labour Movement
  • The Cell promotes Swadeshi-based industrial and trade union development, encouraging workers to support national interest.
  • It rejects violent and politically divisive trade unionism, focusing instead on constructive, cooperative, and moral-based labour reform.

  1. Labour Welfare with Cultural Values
  • True welfare comes from both economic upliftment and moral empowerment.
  • Programmes focus on skill development, social security, education, health, and family welfare in line with Indian cultural ethos.

  1. Nation as a Family (Rashtra Parivar)
  • Every worker is a part of the national family, and every industry is a temple of service (Karma Mandir).
  • The spirit of “Nation First, Labour Proud” (Rashtra Pratham, Shram Garv Hai) guides all activities.
  • BJMC’s Mission Under Integral Humanism
  • To organize and empower workers across all sectors under a nationalist and ethical labour framework.
  • To ensure justice, dignity, and welfare of every worker as a vital part of India’s development.
  • To establish a self-reliant, harmonious, and prosperous India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) through labour unity and discipline.

Conclusion

The Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Cell sees Integral Humanism not just as a philosophy but as a way of life — integrating labour with values, nationalism with compassion, and progress with morality.

It strives for a balanced society where economic, cultural, and spiritual growth move hand in hand — creating a just, self-reliant, and humane India.
