A Shield of Dignity, Security, and Rights for Every Worker

Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Cell (BJMC)

The Labour Card is not just an identity document. It is recognition. It proves that unorganised workers matter, their labour matters, and their families deserve security. Through this card, workers gain access to welfare schemes created to protect their health, income, education, and future.

BJMC stands firmly with every worker in the unorganised sector. Our mission is simple. Ensure that no eligible worker is left out of the system.

What Is a Labour Card?

A Labour Card is a government-issued identity card for workers in India’s unorganised sector. It connects workers to welfare schemes run by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and State Labour Welfare Boards.

Registration is voluntary, but skipping it is a mistake. Without a Labour Card, workers lose access to benefits that are legally meant for them.

Why the Labour Card Matters

This single card unlocks multiple protections and benefits:

  • Healthcare and medical assistance

  • Accident and disability insurance

  • Pension schemes for old age

  • Maternity benefits for women workers

  • Educational scholarships for children

  • Housing and tool purchase assistance

  • Skill development and training programs

It gives workers legal recognition and protection against exploitation.

Types of Labour Cards
1. Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Card

For workers involved in construction activities such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, and related trades.

Key benefits include:

2. Social Security Card for Unorganised Workers

For workers outside the construction sector, including:

  • Agricultural labourers

  • Domestic workers

  • Street vendors

  • Fishermen

  • Tailors

  • Daily wage and informal workers

This card enables access to schemes like health insurance, pension programs, and education support under the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008.
